Tabbed File Manager in Ubuntu

July 12th

Found a good post about installing a lightweight file manager for Ubuntu called PCMan. PCMan gives you most of the functionality of Nautilus, but also has tabs. I was sold immediately.

I like tabs. Tabs are good for you. Why adopt desktops and folders as your metaphor if you’re not going to put tabs on the folders? Have you ever dealt with paper file folders that didn’t have tabs? They exist, and they’re crap.

It’s a small change, but oh-so-helpful.

So I was scanning and not really paying attention and for a second I thought you found pacman for ubuntu. There was fleeting ecstasy.

I’m totally knitting a pacman scarf for someone this winter. Maybe me. Do you know anyone who needs pacman paraphenalia?

You know, its little things like this that are the reason why, once I get a larger HDD for my notebook, I’m so installing Ubuntu. Tabs = wonderful.
