Goodbye Aptana, Hello NetBeans – Ok, so the IDE debate finds its way here again.

By the end of those two hours, I knew I’d be unlikely to use Aptana again. NetBeans just feels more capable and more polished, and while I found a couple bugs (using the latest beta release), it was much more stable than the current Aptana release. By mid-day I felt at least as productive in NetBeans as I ever was in RadRails.

Rails For Linux – I want a LAMR distro.

This version has Ruby-1.8.6, Rubygems-0.9.4, Rails 1.2.3, Mongrel 1.0.1, MySQL-5.0.41, ncurses-5.6, OpenSSL-0.9.8e, zlib-1.2.3. If you would like us to include a specific server or tools such as Subversion let us know.

RailsForge – Interesting idea.

At first glance, there’s a resistance to drawing a line between Ruby and Rails—that’s certainly not what we aim to do. We think there might be a strong need for a Rails-centric hub. More than a blog or a tumblog. More than a wiki. What we’re thinking of is… Grand Central Station. What do you think?

Top 20 Ruby CMS – Grist for the mill.

This article contains a breakdown of all known (to me) Ruby on Rails content management systems to date. It is revised from its previous version, fixing a few inconsistencies and adding two new content management systems to the list!

Slamdot Launches New Control Panel – CPanel? We don’t need no stinking CPanel.

The company integrates billing, support, hosting and domain name management into a single AJAX-based tool, requiring only one username and password to access all of its features. The control panel was developed using Ruby on Rails.

Resources about Ruby On Rails – Another list of links.

A good starting point if you want a good panel of different websites discussing about or explaining Ruby On Rails.

Setting Up a Ruby on Rails Development Environment in Ubuntu using Aptana/Eclipse – More on IDEs.

I already have easy eclipse for PHP installed for my ThemBid.com Symfony development. A new project I am working on is being developed in Ruby on Rails (I will be blogging about this new killer app later). My goal is to use the same eclipse environment for my Ruby on Rails development with. I will be using the Aptana RadRails to make it happen. Following are the detailed steps.

Rails developers: experts or script kiddies? – Things to rant about.

So after a pro-Rails post, Sunjay decided to outline the problems with Rails. It isn’t a very good presentation of Rails’ problems, and yet Sunjay’s focus is interesting. He focuses on the Rails community and Rails developers when discussing what is wrong with Rails. Here is the core of his argument…
