This recipe also comes to me by way of Shauna’s mom:
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 beaten egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 tbsp. instant onion flakes (or mince fresh onion)
- 1 tsp. parsley flakes
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt (I usually don’t add)
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 4 tbsp. ketchup (or tomato relish/chili sauce)
Put first 9 ingredients in large bowl (that’s everything but the cheese and ketchup). Mix together well. Pack half into greased loaf pan 9 x 5 inches. Spread grated cheese over meat. Put second half of meat mixture over cheese. Flatten top. Spread ketchup over top of loaf.
Bake uncovered in 350 F oven for 1 1/4 – 1 1/2 hours. Serves 6 – 8. (Or me twice.)
