HNIC Pool – Week 5

This was a particularly difficult week week for me. There seemed to be fewer obvious choices. Then again, this might be a good thing. When forced to take a few more risks, the rewards might be much greater.

Super-Basic Chilli

I whipped up a batch of really simple chilli, and felt like sharing…

There are only two things about this recipe which are critical, and they come right up front. The first is the ratio of tomatoes to kidney beans. One 796 mL (28 fl oz) can of tomatoes to one 540 mL (19 fl oz) can of kidney beans. Yes, I use canned tomatoes. Yes I live in Canada through the winter. Books vs. Food

October 23rd

Last Thursday, I bought a book I couldn’t honestly afford. It’s a great book, but, sadly, also quite expensive. Today, with heavy heart, I returned the book.

As it turns out, The Bookshelf, an excellent bookstore here in Guelph, gives store credit for returns, rather than refunding one’s money. Given that book prices are sometimes just short of volatile, I can understand this. Unfortunately, this doesn’t help me buy groceries.

Would anyone like to buy $93.27 in Bookshelf credit for cash? If not, I guess everyone is getting books for Christmas…
